River Rafter of the Month

February

Samira N. — 1st Grade, Sra. Alvillar 

SamiraSamira is the River Rafter of the month of February! Samira is intelligent, friendly and hardworking. She enjoys reading and playing with her friends. Outside of her hobbies and learning to show OARS, Samira's favorite things at school are OARS store, drama classes, and father and daughter dancing. She loves math and reading. Her favorite memory as a River Rafter so far is the visit to the farm. Mark Twain has prepared Samira to become a teach and chef. Samira is excited about dual immersion and plans to work hard to increase her vocabulary. When asked how she felt when she was nominated as River Rafter of the Month, she said "I was very nervous!". Samira is a very dedicated girl and loves school. In the first week of school, she was already asking for her exam. She worries so much about completing tasks and projects on time that she wants to finish them in the first two days. She doesn't like to miss class or leave home early. Keep up the good work, Samira Nava! We are proud to have you as an integral part of our Mark Twain community!

Henry D. — 3rd Grade, Srta. Hallsted

 

HenryHenry is February's River Rafter of the Month. Henry is energetic, funny and friendly. He enjoys dancing and learning. Outside of those hobbies and learning about showing OARS, Henry's favorite things at school are field trips, friends and theater/drama. He loves science and reading. His favorite memory as a River Rafter thus far is making friends. Mark Twain has prepared Henry to become a pilot. Henry is excited about 3rd grade and plans to work hard to be a good person. When asked how he felt when nominated as River Rafter of the Month he said "I was happy and surprised! I did not think I would get it". Keep up the good work, Henry! We are proud to have you as an integral part of our Mark Twain community!

December/january

River G. — Kindergarten, Sra. Arce

riverRiver is December and January’s River Rafter of the Month. River is kind, friendly, and confident. She enjoys drawing and playing with friends. Outside of those hobbies and learning about showing OARS, River’s favorite things at school are listening, standing tall, and buddy day! She loves sight words and learning Spanish. Her favorite memory as a River Rafter thus far is making new friends. Mark Twain has prepared River  to become a Veterinarian. River is excited about Kindergarten and plans to work hard to accomplish everything. When asked how she felt when nominated as River Rafter of the Month she said “I’m so excited!!”. River’s tips on being an outstanding River Rafter are to work hard, push in your seats, and walk straight. Some fun facts about River are that she likes to tell jokes, has met Queen Elsa, and walks like a princess when she wears dresses!  Keep up the good work, River. We are proud to have you as an integral part of our Mark Twain community!

Sierra W. — 5th Grade, Ms. Dini

Sierra is December and January’s River Rafter of the Month. Sierra is smart, helpful, and trustworthy. She enjoys music and drawing. Outside of those hobbies and learning about showing OARS, Sierra’s favorite things at school are buddies, Student Council, and Bucket Squad! She loves Science and P.S. Arts! Her favorite memory as a River Rafter thus far is going to the farm in Kindergarten. Mark Twain has prepared Sierra to become an Inventor.  Sierra is excited about 5th grade and plans to work hard to get good grades. When asked how she felt when nominated as River Rafter of the Month she said “I’m very grateful!”. Keep up the good work, Sierra. We are proud to have you as an integral part of our Mark Twain community!

November

Lemar A. — 2nd grade, Mrs. Monson

lemarLemar A. is November’s River Rafter of the Month. Lemar  is loving,caring, and smart. He enjoys soccer and basketball. Outside of those hobbies and learning about showing OARS, Lemar favorite things at school are reading, writing, and music class. He loves math and science. His favorite memory as a River Rafter thus far is becoming River Rafter of the Month! Mark Twain has prepared Lemar to become an engineer. Lemar is excited about 2nd grade and plans to work hard to achieve his goal. When asked how he felt when nominated as River Rafter of the Month he said” excited!”

Lemar said that some tips to be an outstanding River Rafter are “ to  help your teacher during and after class as well as show respect to one another.”  Fun fact, Lemar is from Afghanistan and his name means “of the sea”, “liquid of gold”, or “sun”. Pretty cool, right?  Keep up the good work, Lemar! We are proud to have you as an integral part of our Mark Twain community!

Orrin B. — 4th grade, Sra. Martinez

orrinOrrin B. is November’s River Rafter of the Month. Orrin  is hard-working, helpful, and fun. He enjoys reading and archery. Outside of those hobbies and learning about showing OARS, Orrin’s favorite things at school are math, writing, and reading!. His favorite subjects are reading and math. His favorite memory as a River Rafter thus far is his 3rd grade party! Mark Twain has prepared Orring to become an astronaut. Orrin is excited about 4th grade and plans to work hard to show OARS. When asked how he felt when nominated as River Rafter of the Month he said” AWESOME!” 

Some of Orrin’s other hobbies are that he enjoys playing with his friends and going to the park. Hey River Rafters, Orrin has a great tip on how to be an outstanding River Rafter, he said  we all can “pay attention in class” and we will be outstanding!! Thank you Orrin. Keep up the good work!
